Class Experience

Techniques in this class:
Separate eggs
Whip egg whites
Fold egg whites
Sift flour for success
Combine dry ingredients for a homogeneous mixture
Make a buttermilk hack
Make a cake flour hack
Alternate dry and liquid ingredients method
Cream
Bake a foam - cake is incorporating air into a solid or liquid and baking it
Frosting a cupcake
I have been celebrating Juneteenth for many years.  Last year, I hosted various Juneteenth camps and a celebration class on Outschool.  In addition, I have had decades of experience in the kitchen.  In this class, I will be incorporating to my experience and life skills.
*** Note:  Please have all ingredients measured out before class and supplies ready for use.***

I will attach a complete ingredient list upon enrollment. Contact me for substitution questions before class. Red velvet cupcakes- flour, cornstarch, vanilla, cream cheese, eggs, unsalted butter, unsweetened cocoa powder, granulated sugar, vinegar, buttermilk or milk, powdered sugar, vegetable oil, red food coloring and salt Equipment- stand or hand mixer, sifter or sieve, two mixing bowls, wax paper/parchment paper, cupcake liners, cupcake pan, mixing bowl, whisk, measurement cups and spoons, hand or stand mixer, rubber spatula, cake piping bag or food storage bag, pot holder or oven mitt, cooling rack (optional) Printer, glue, and toothpick(optional)
1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Dear Parents:  We will be using a mixer and an oven.  Please have an adult on hand to supervise these operations if necessary.  Also theses recipes contain known allergens such as  cream cheese, eggs, chocolate, red food coloring, and gluten.  Please be aware of these the ingredients when considering this class.  In addition, enslavement can be an emotional and sensitive topic.  We will focus on celebrating and baking.
