Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
This course will also benefit learners who have struggled with writing proofs in a previous high school Geometry course. Or, students who have some experience with Geometry will also be able to jump in and learn how to write proofs. Please see the "Background Knowledge" section below for more specifics. I am always happy to answer questions. Feel free message me if you would like discuss if this class is right for your learner.

Whether your learner taking Geometry for the first time or just needs a refresher, the Foundations of Geometry series covers some of the basics of a high school Geometry course.

In this course, students will learn to:
Recognize, write, and evaluate conditional statements, including converses and biconditionals.
Evaluate the truth values of conditional statements, and find counterexamples.
Write algebraic proofs using the properties of equality.
Write two-column using geometric theorems and deductive reasoning.

Guided notes will be provided. Practice problems will be assigned after each session. I can provide an optional assessment at the end of the course.

Background Knowledge:
Students must be able to solve linear equations, such as 3x + 10 + 110 = 180.

Students should have also be familiar with basic facts about points, lines, planes, segments, rays, and angles; the concepts of congruent, midpoint, and bisects; the terms adjacent, vertical, complementary, supplementary, and linear angle pairs; the Segment Addition and Angle Addition Postulate. The concepts are all taught in my "Jumpstart Geometry: The Foundation" course

Look at my reviews on Outschool to read about how other students enjoyed and learned from my Geometry courses. And, please message me if you have any questions.

I have successfully taught students Geometry for over twenty years in a variety of school settings. I've worked with students who have learning challenges and high-achieving students, and many students in between. I bring these experiences to the classroom. I know which content can be challenging, and have developed a variety of ways to help learners succeed.
