US Grade 4 - 7
A fun-loving class where writing comes to life through journalism and confidence is built for public speaking. Week 1: What is journalism? How to find a good story to write about. This week will help students to structure a good story for their newspaper. Homework: Write an article about something you have done this week, make it intriguing, and something that a person would want to read. Week 2: Do newspapers still have an impact in our world? How to make your story count and make a difference. Learning what makes a good story and what words can make a story stand out. Homework: Write an article about the place you live. Practice reading this out loud and bring it to class. Week 3: Learning to have confidence when you are speaking. What are the tricks to overcome nerves? We will go over the homework. Homework: Write two articles that you are passionate about and come to class ready to shine. Week 4: Your voice does count, remembering your voice counts, and you can find the courage to share what you are passionate about does make a difference. *This class is subject to change.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to write an article, come up with a name for their newspaper, and they will learn to have confidence reading the articles that they have written. Each week new assignments will be given. This way students will grow each week in their knowledge of writing and public speaking.

I have taught students of all ages, performed in public, and conquered my own fear of talking in front of people. I have written children's books and helped students with public speaking. I am from England and love history and fashion. My goal is to give students a love for learning.
