Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
By introducing journaling to kids, we can nurture various aspects of their development, including emotional intelligence, communication skills, and a love for self-expression.

Journaling is beneficial for kids for several reasons:
1. Emotional Expression: Journaling provides a safe outlet for children to express their emotions, helping them process and understand their feelings.
2. Language Development: Writing in a journal helps improve language skills, vocabulary, and overall communication abilities, contributing to academic success.
3. Creativity and Imagination: They can explore storytelling, draw pictures, or create their own worlds on paper.
4. Reflection and Self-Awareness: Allows students to develop self-awareness as they think about their experiences, preferences, and personal growth.
5. Building Confidence: Documenting achievements, big or small, in a journal can boost a child's self-esteem. It serves as a tangible reminder of their capabilities.

This 30 minute 5-day camp will provide an introduction to different types of journaling, including personal journaling, gratitude journaling, creative journaling, and reading journaling. The teacher will give a brief explanation of the type of journaling for the day with some examples. Students will then create a journal entry following the day's prompt and journaling style. Extension prompts will also be provided to encourage them to continue to write outside of class.
