This class has a fun and child centered approach to teaching literacy through synthetic phonics. With actions for each of the 42 letter sounds, the multi-sensory method is very motivating for children. They can see their achievements too.

Using a synthetic phonics approach, Jolly Phonics teaches children the five key skills for reading and writing. The teacher will send the worksheet to the parents ahead of time and a you-tube link to find the songs. Most presentation will be via google slides so lots of fun suspense. Learners will listen to the songs, sing along with puppets, play games via slides and video clips. Learners can ask questions and share their props related to the sound in class e,g, /s/ sound - snake, snail, sun, sand etc to create a sense of engagement and interaction as well. week 1- S sound day 1- learn the sound, song, objects beginning with the sound, tracing and writing, upper and lower cases week 2 - A sound day 1- learn the sound, song, objects beginning with the sound, tracing and writing, upper and lower cases week 3 - T sound day 1- learn the sound, song, objects beginning with the sound,tracing and writing, upper and lower cases Week 4 - I sound day 1- learn the sound, song, objects beginning with the sound, tracing and writing, upper and lower cases week 5 - P sound day 1- learn the sound, song, objects beginning with the sound,tracing and writing, upper and lower cases Week 6 - N sound day 1- learn the sound, song, objects beginning with the sound, air writing, upper and lower cases There will be other impromptu talk time in class for the students as well as some poetry, slides, games, show and tell and engaging ideas to keep focus, attention and recollection. Parents may be required to sit in with their learners on some occasions.

Hello there! Thank you so much for showing an interest in one of my classes. I'm excited already about the many fun memories we will create in my class.
A little about me..
My name is Lara and I live in Canada with my 7 year old son and Husband. I love cycling, reading, painting, road travels and DIY. I lived in Japan for 9 years teaching children in bilingual schools as an ESL teacher as well as homeroom. It was a wonderful experience. I also teach children online as an ESL Consultant (Independent contractor) for a large educator in China.
In the line of education, I graduated with a degree in English Language and certified as a TEFL and TEYL (Teaching English to Younger Learners) teacher. I am also working towards my Diploma in Early Childhood Education at the moment. I am passionate about working with children all over the world. I have inspired many mothers with many creative ideas on how to assist their children with reading and writing from age 3-13. The joy on their faces when I hear the results makes me so happy. I am also a certified Jolly Phonics/Grammar teacher.
My aim on Outschool is to create as many interesting ways to engage your children using stories, phonemic awareness, songs, TPR, puppets and everything I can. I want to help them with their regular writing, reading, speaking and creative writing skills, using Phonics. Short Character stories, Q&A sessions and also one-on-one ideas.
WHAT KEEPS ME GOING?
Every child in my care is a change agent. I influence them positively so they can affect the next person and the next community and eventually the world. I work with each child at their level using stimulating ideas and creating an environment that piques their imagination all the time.
I enjoy providing support to each child and give each child a voice to express him/herself. Each time we meet, I want them to feel welcome and when it's goodby time, I want them to leave with something new and most importantly a desire to come back again to grasp more.
