Japanese: Road to Fluency Mid Beginner Class 4 Part 1-5 (Age 8-12)

This is the eleventh class in a long series designed to help the student become fluent in Japanese. They will study in an upbeat and interactive way, where all students will feel comfortable and engaged.

Class experience

After this lesson, students will be able to:

Week 1:
1. Learn about becoming (I am becoming busy etc.)
2. Learn about "somewhere" and "nowhere" (want something, it's nothing etc).

Week 2: 

1. Explain what you are using to do something (I eat with chopsticks, I go by bike).
2. Review material learned in Mid-beginner classes 3 and 4.

Week 3: 

1. Do a review of the past lessons we have learned.
-Talk about plans for the next vacation
-Do a role-play for traveling and registering them.

2. Read a conversation between two different people

Week 4:

1. Learn the Kanji (to live, right, year, to sell, to buy, town, and long)
-Learn the combination of the kanjis (sell and store means stall)
-Learn the combination of things (to buy and thing means shopping

Week 5:

1. Learn the Kanji (way, to stand, self, night, morning to hold)
-Learn the combination of the kanjis (Self and school mean private university)
-Learn the combination of things (morning and food mean breakfast)
I received my undergraduate degree in the Japanese language, culture, and history. I also earned my Master's degree in K-12 education. I studied abroad at Nihon University in Tokyo as well as worked as an English teacher in Niigata, Japan. I was able to see what I learned firsthand.
Homework Offered
Students will be given worksheets to print out after the class to reinforce their learning. Because this class meets once, this is optional and they have the choice to send their homework to me to look over. They will get a vocabulary list that goes over everything they have studied

Assessments Offered
I do not routinely give an assessment at the end of the class. However, if a student or parent would like an assessment, they may request one by emailing me.
