Class experience

US Grade 1 - 4
This class is taught in English.
Students will learn vocabulary to talk about different insects, their parts, where they live, when they are active, what they eat, and their life cycle.
Students will complete craft projects for each insect they learn about.
Students will compare and contrast insects.
Students will participate in discussion activities.
When I was 11 years old, my 6th grade science teacher gave us the assignment to do an insect collection. I enjoyed it so much that I joined 4-H and continued my collection until I left for college. My own daughters have also started insect collecting. As a 4-H advisor, I have enjoyed helping several members with their own insect projects. Now that my daughters have stopped, I plan to take over and expand their collections since mine was lost in a house fire many years ago. I love collecting, learning, and teaching about insects!
Homework Offered
Mondays and Wednesdays will be videos, photos, and information about the two insects of the week. Tuesday and Thursday will be craft days. Fridays will be compare, contrast, and a short Kahoot quiz to check for understanding. Students are encouraged to post photos of completed crafts and to participate in the compare and contrast discussions. Content will be posted by 10 am EST each weekday and discussion will be monitored several times each day.
