This 5-week introductory note-taking workshop prepares your middle schooler for high school classes by practicing active listening, finding what method of note-taking is best for your child, and summarizing for effective retention.

This note-taking workshop explains the fundamentals of active listening, methods of note-taking, application of skills, retention review, and lasting techniques to use throughout high school! The class is designed to be in a group session to really immerse the students in the high school experience. Students will learn active listening skills that can be applied throughout the workshop during "practice" high school lectures. Students will learn what the different methods of note-taking are, and which one might work best for them. Students will actively attempt note-taking and see if the information notated is retained!
I have 10 years of experience in higher education. I am more than proficient in the art of note-taking and I believe I can offer several techniques, tips, and tricks during this workshop. I have also been in the administrative workforce for 12 years in which I am responsible for note-taking (meeting minutes) for my organization. I serve on a prestigious board for data and information as well as heading three committees, all of which I am responsible for scribing notes.
Homework Offered
Students will be completing individual note-taking during the workshop sessions. A 10-question quiz on the material learned will be sent home every week.Assessments Offered
Each student is responsible for turning in, via email, their completed homework quiz, I will provide a letter grade and written response/feedback.Grades Offered
