Introduction to Vocabulary Leading to Grammatically Correct Written Paragraphs

US Grade 3 - 6
First, students will write a five-sentence paragraph as a base to establish their writing level. Using a non-fiction article How to Deal With Isolation in a PowerPoint Presentation, students will focus on vocabulary, spelling, and grammar. Second, students will be asked to read three times each of the 12 words of the vocabulary used in this lesson. Then, they will write a sentence using the new word independently. - Students will improve their understanding of three of the six traits of writing: sentence fluency, word choice, and conventions. Students will improve their understanding of some of the basic rules of spelling. Students will improve their understanding of some of the grammar rules.
I began my teaching career as a substitute teacher in special education in 1997 as I was attending UCF (University of Central Florida) in Orlando, FL and earned my MA Degree in various exceptionalities. I added three additional Certifications: Contracted Braille, Basic Braille, RESOL (reading and language arts) grades K-12. To date, I continue teaching online courses although I am a retired teacher. The ages of students taught ranged from preteen years to adults. I enjoy assisting families in their education decisions, as requested. ** I am very proud to be an Outschool employee for many years. ** I taught various grade levels in public and private schools from age 4 years old up into university with our own girls and boys in gifted programs and magnet schools. I've earned "Highly Effective" in all areas and love teaching. It is imperative that the teacher-parent-student relationship is based on honesty and respect.
