Introduction to Python: Part 4 Basics
We continue to learn more! It is a continuation of Parts 1, 2, & 3. It is strongly recommended that students take all of my previous courses first. Note: this course is the longest yet/the topics are harder, so it costs more.

In this course, we will dive in a little bit more with Python basics. At this point, students will be expected to know basic concepts like variables, input() function, Logical Operators, Updating Variables, & Math Operations. We will learn about the IF….ELIF…ELSE statement, the While Loop, the Break & Continue in loops, & the for loop. As well as the dangers of an infinite loop. Students will then have a challenge where we put together everything we've learned to complete a problem. In this...
Students will learn what the if elif else statements are and how to use them, as well as FOR loops, and WHILE loops, and the dangers of an infinite loop. We will then learn why it is useful for programmers to create these sorts of loops.
There will not be homework, however, there will be a "Challenge" at the end, that puts together everything that we've gone over as a class. Throughout the lesson, I will explain how to do ONE specific thing, and give examples for the students. Then, they will try on their own to do that ONE thing. So we will do a well-known teaching principle: I DO, WE DO, YOU DO. I do it first, then we do it together, then YOU do. In the end, there will be a challenge combining everything learned in the course.
Learners will be accessed by a review challenge, in the beginning, going over everything that they should already know from either previous knowledge or from taking my previous course.
2 hours per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We utilize Replit.com to practice hands-on coding examples. Please make sure your child creates an account prior to the start of class. *If I teach with less than the minimum, the course will not run for full time. The class is approximately 1 hour, 40 minutes, with 20 minutes given for the "Challenge" at the end. Please note, if everyone completes the challenge BEFORE time is up, we will review, but the class may finish a few minutes early.
Patient, fun, caring teacher looking to expand the mind of her learners through education!
