What's included

Homework
1 hour per week. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “Practice makes perfect”! Learners can expect to spend approximately 60 minutes a week on this class between their learning and practice time. Learners will upload Video Recordings of themselves playing their assignments and will also be provided Theory pages that will help with comprehension of our learning each week.
Assessment
I will provide written and video feedback to students as they submit their Recordings and Theory Assignments each week. Learners will then be able to correct their work and move forward toward mastery and the next concept.

Class Experience

This Piano Flex Class is a perfect introduction to Piano Lessons for Beginners or a helpful review for learners who have previous experience, but haven't played for a while. Upon completing this class, learners will be able to decide if they are interested in continuing Piano Lessons and may have the option to join my Ongoing Piano Lesson Club. A piano or keyboard is required for this class and Handouts will be provided with the lesson each week.

WHAT TO EXPECT

- Video Lessons with Handouts Each Week
- Feedback on Assignments
- Positive Encouragement
- Unlimited Communication with the Teacher

There are NO LIVE meetings for this class, however the instructor works to ensure every learner has meaningful one on one feedback throughout the entire class. Material will be posted weekly and you can view it during the week when it works best for your schedule.

WEEKLY SCHEDULE

Mondays 9:00 a.m. EST
Video lessons will be released each week of the instructor reviewing the assignments for the week and teaching piano concepts in a way that is easy to understand, much like a live piano lesson. Learners will view these videos and practice the concepts taught at their piano. They will then spend time practicing songs taught in the video lesson throughout the week. Learners will be assigned songs to record themselves playing and submit for feedback from the instructor. This feedback will help learners correct mistakes and receive praise for concepts they have mastered! Theory Worksheets will be provided to support learning and to allow the instructor to check for understanding. In order to provide an even richer learning experience, learners will also have the opportunity to interact through discussion questions relevant to the class on the Outschool Classroom page.

Saturdays 8:00 p.m. EST
Learners should submit a picture of their Theory assignment for the Instructor to give feedback.

Sundays 8:00 p.m. EST
Learners should submit their video of themselves playing their song for feedback from the instructor.

The instructor has reserved time in her schedule to give timely feedback on all assignments turned in early or on time. If assignments are turned in late, learners will still receive feedback, it may just be later in the week.

Maryland Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Hello Outschool Families! I’m a certified educator in the USA. I've been teaching on Outschool for two years now and have loved establishing relationships with learners and their families, some I still have since I started! I've been teaching the Piano for just over 15 years and teaching a variety of other Performing Arts subjects since graduating with my degree in Music Education in 2009.

Music has been a passion of mine since I was a child. I grew up in a musical family, sang in church and school, began piano lessons in first grade, was in several musicals, was in the band where I played the flute and piccolo, and lead music at my church on the worship team. I am passionate about students and education! Here are a couple facts about me.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education
- Certified Teacher
- Primary Instruments: Piano, Voice and Flute.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
- Private Instruction for 15+ years
- Public Elementary School Music Teacher for 11 years
- Public Middle School Performing Arts Teacher for 2 years
- Summer Camps (Church and Public Performing Arts)

CLASSES TAUGHT
I've taught a variety of subjects, but my favorite are Performing Arts Classes. I've taken my Choirs to perform at Disney World and have directed Musicals in Elementary Schools and Middle Schools including, Jungle Book Kids and Beauty and the Beast Junior. Below are just selection of classes I have experience teaching.

- Choir/Chorus (in person)
- Beginning Band (in person)
- Voice Lessons (in person/online)
- Piano Lessons (in person/online)
- Musical Theater (in person)
- Orff Ensemble (in person)
- Recorder (in person/online)
- Group Piano Classes (in person/online)
- Audition Preparation (in person/online)
- Music Theory (in person/online)

I believe it’s important to be a life long learner and that’s why Outschool is so awesome. This platform allows learners to hone in on a specific subject, learn more about what they’re interested in, or discover their talent in the fine arts developing students into well rounded individuals! My goal is that every learner and family leaves my class feeling their time was well spent!

I look forward to getting to know you and hope our time together will leave a lasting impact!
