Introduction to Physics for High School
Class experience
US Grade 8 - 10
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this course, students will cover foundational topics including Newton's Laws and principles of energy, work, and power. Week 1: Students will be introduced to the concept of forces and gain an understanding of Newton's three laws of motion. Week 2: Focus shifts to Newton's second law of motion, with students engaging in calculations to grasp the relationship between force, mass, and acceleration. Week 3: The final week delves into types of energy, work, and power, providing students...
Students will learn: 1. To identify and describe different types of forces acting on objects, distinguishing between gravitational, electromagnetic, frictional, and applied forces. 2. To articulate Newton's Three Laws of Motion, including examples illustrating each law's application in everyday situations and scientific phenomena. 3. To calculate the acceleration of an object given its mass and the net force acting upon it, applying Newton's Second Law in problem-solving scenarios. 4. To differentiate between kinetic and potential energy, and to apply the principle of conservation of energy to analyse energy transformations in mechanical systems. 5. To quantify work done on an object by a force, calculate power using work and time, and assess the efficiency of energy transfers in various mechanical systems.

Homework Offered
Students will get one piece of homework weekly and this will be marked at the start of the next week's class. It is recommended that all students complete the homework set, however, if students are not able to complete the week's homework, it will not affect their ability to join the lesson.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
