This class will help your student begin to understand the fundamentals of how to read and write notes on both the treble and bass cleff as well as how to build their first major and minor scales. The goal is to also teach them the circle of 5ths so that they understand how to read a key signature as well as understand the basics of a time signature. We will then progress on the building of a triad (chords) and the modes within a major scale. It is recommended that your student has an understanding of how to play a modal instrument, such as a guitar or a piano, but it is not required. It is also recommended that they bring a blank sheet music notebook as well as a pencil so that your student can follow along with the lesson as well as show their work so that they can display that they have an understanding of the lesson. The goal is to have your student begin to have a passion of how to start using these tools so that they can understand how to create art and express themselves using music. I look forward to teaching your student!
