Description

Class Experience

At the end of this 6-week course, students should be able to introduce themselves and talk about where they are from. They should also know the alphabet and the numbers from 1-10.

This course will also serve as a pre-requisite to Introduction to Modern Greek 102 - Learning to Speak
I am a Greek native, fluent in Modern Greek, and trained in the Greek educational system. I immigrated to the USA in 2007 and became a citizen in 2019. I have two Bachelor of Arts and an MFA from American private universities. I speak English fluently and can answer any questions a student might have on the coursework material. I have designed an extensive, 7 Level curriculum based on the highest standards of education used in "Greek as a Second Language" as well as "Greek as a Foreign Language" programs.
Print-out homework will be assigned at the end of each class to help the students practice what they've learned. Each homework activity should then be uploaded to Google classroom to be graded.

Flashcards and access to the lesson materials will be provided at the beginning of the course and students should study and prepare for each class.
A small, 8x10 whiteboard and marker, to help the student practice their writing skills in the classroom. Many times the students will be asked to share with the class their Greek letter penmanship or spell a vocabulary word. A whiteboard will help them write big letters, easily visible to the camera. *Can be found at any Dollar Store or Amazon.com
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Students must complete a written assessment to demonstrate their new skills. Lesson 6 is a midterm assessment to determine the students' progress and Lesson 12 is a final test to determine the students' ability to continue to the next unit.

The student must earn 50% of the overall test grade to continue to Unit 102 - My Greek Classroom
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
The coursework material, as well as flashcards, activities, and quizzes, will be in the Google Classroom. Students will be given the classroom code on their first day of class and can join in order to complete their homework and prepare for the upcoming lessons.
