In this one time class, we will explore: – What is mindfulness ? – How does it work? – What are its benefits ? – Mindfulness for managing stress – Practicing everyday mindfulness ( such as mindful breathing, mindful walking, mindful eating) An overview of the history of mindfulness practices will be presented and various types of mindfulness activities will be explored and practiced. Students will walk away with skills to enjoy the present moment. Mindfulness is proven to improve focus and concentration, improve sleep habits, regulate emotions and reduce stress and anxiety.
I am a RYT teacher and meditation teacher with training for teens from Mindful Schools. I teach meditation classes to users of Meditation.LIVE from all over the world. I am also a certified Biology teacher and have taught in a classroom and virtually for 15 years, along with homeschooling my own children.
Each student will be provided with handouts to take notes, however, if they prefer to write in their own notebook or journal, that would be fine as well! If each student can have an unwrapped piece of chocolate (any kind you wish-small bite size would be best) for a mindful eating exercise, that would be great! Thank you. :)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
