This one-time class is an introduction to mindfulness tailored for learners ages 10-14. Learners experience mindfulness through mindful practices and mindful games. In my books and classes, I define mindfulness as paying deliberate attention to what is happening on the outside and on the inside. The result of that process is more peace, presence and joy in our lives as well as more kindness towards ourselves, others and the world. Class activities include conscious breathing, techniques to calm down, mindful reflection, mindful eating, concentration exercises, gentle movement, cultivating peace, joy, kindness, gratitude and much more.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, Learners and Parents! My name is Nikola Ristic, I am an author and mindfulness instructor from Santa Cruz, CA. After getting my Ph.D in philosophy and teaching as a university professor for 10 years, I fully focused on teaching mindfulness and meditation. I published two books on the benefits of mindfulness and meditation for men and women living in the modern world.
In the last 4 years, my biggest passion has been teaching mindfulness to middle school students (ages 12-14). So far, I have taught mindfulness to middle school students in various formats: classes, workshops, class visits, after school activities and individual mentoring.
I firmly believe that mindfulness is slowly but surely becoming a mainstream phenomenon in the present-day world, especially in education. My teaching style is playful and fun and I meet my students at their developmental level. Whether we mindfully breathe, eat or play - I make sure that it is done with ease and joy.
Originally from Serbia, I have been living in the US for the last 24 years. Currently, I live in Santa Cruz, CA with my wife Shawna, son Neven, cat Luna and pet rock Oso. I love practicing mindfulness while contemplating the ocean.
