Class Experience

In this multi-day class, I will teach learners some of the main different design styles and help them understand and discover what their personal style is. I will also teach them how to make a design vision board and each week as we learn in depth a new design style, learners will be able to make a design board specifically for that style to enhance learning and understanding.
For the first week, we will begin class with me giving an introduction of myself and then each student will also introduce themself. We will then discuss what the meaning of interior design, talk about what each student's personal knowledge and interpretation of interior design is, and they will share why it interests them. Following that, I will briefly go over and teach them about six of the main interior design styles and what specific details and elements make up that style. Then I will, in a simple fashion, teach them how to create an Interior Design vision board.
In the second week we will go in depth about the Bohemian design style. We will go over a brief slide show together that I will show them and we will discuss in depth what elements make up that style and explore new aspects of this style. Following that, I will review with them how to create a vision board and then together we will make our own vision board reflecting this style along with our own personal touches. Each student will have an opportunity to make their very own & share with the other students things that they added to theirs.
In the third week we will do the same things as week two except we will go over the farmhouse design style. Similarly, to week two, I will show them a slideshow going over that specific style, we will research more aspects and elements on our own, and then make a design board following that stye.
In the fourth week we will learn about the modern design style following the same model as the first two weeks.
In the fifth week we will learn about the industrial design style and do the same things as the previous weeks.
In the sixth week we will learn about the rustic design style.
And in the last week we will learn about the traditional design style repeating the model of each of the previous classes: going over what makes up that style, researching on our own, then making a design board.
Each class, they will have the opportunity to share with the class what they have created. I believe strongly in engaged learning and so learners will have ample opportunities to get involved and share what they like and dislike about each style and design and we will explore different items TOGETHER that can be used to create different design styles. Learners can use hard copy materials to create a vision board (such as a magazine or printed pictures) or use google photos and an online document to copy and paste photos into. I will teach using powerpoint slides showing pictures and words as well as use pages document on my computer to demonstrate how to create an online vision board. There is no experience needed to take this course, just a desire to learn and get those creative ideas flowing!

Learning Goals
