Introduction to Informative Public Speaking Taught by Certified Instructor

This 8-week course students will learn how to present a school appropriate topic to their classmates. The students will learn the three main parts of an informative speech, consisting of an introduction, a body and a conclusion.

Homework
1-2 hours per week. Students will need to do approximately 2 hours of homework a week in order to research their topic and prepare their speech including visuals.

Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
Beginner Level
Informative Speech
Students will write and present a speech to present to their classmates. The three goals are accuracy, clarity and keeping their classmates interest.
Each speech will include an introduction, body, and conclusion. In addition students will learn to be good listeners to their classmates speeches and be able to give positive and helpful feedback.
Week 1-students will introduce themselves and we will discuss possible topics and how to choose a topic.
Week 2- students will come back with a choice of topics to get approved by the instructor and we will discuss the three parts of a speech.
Week 3- we will discuss using reliable resources and students will spend the week researching their topic.
Week 4- students will be reminded to be preparing their speech for their audience and we will discuss coming up with an introduction that gets the audience's attention.
Week 5- we will discuss writing the body of their informative speech.
Week 6- we will discuss writing the conclusion of the speech and discuss the students practicing their speech for the next week to present next week in class.
Week 7- students will present their speeches to the class. Students should have a notebook to be able to take notes on their classmates speeches. 
Week 8- students will give feedback to each other on the speeches that were done the previous week.
