Class Experience

By the end of this hour-long class, students will have a firm grasp on the basics of how to use Google Docs. As a teacher of my own virtual classroom during COVID-19, I found that skill gaps in this area were very wide, and that even a basic understanding of the various Google apps could make a world of difference for young learners seeking independence during their virtual school classes.

As this is an introductory course, students do not need any prior knowledge of Google Docs. They will learn via hands on practice, in which I will share my screen as I teach, and they may share their screens to model what is going on on their end. To apply their knowledge, students will have a fun challenge at the end of the class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Grace Ward, and I am thrilled to be able to continue teaching while I am not able to be in the classroom (I'm having a baby soon!). My teaching career started in Raleigh, North Carolina, where I taught 2nd grade for two years. After that, I moved to Spain for a year to partake in a cultural immersion experience, which ultimately led me to discover a passion for international education and eventually obtain my Master's Degree in Global Studies in Education. In 2014, I moved back to the United States and began teaching 4th grade at an international school for gifted learners in Atlanta, Georgia. I taught 4th grade for five years, and then moved into a leadership role at the same school. During my time at this school, I also taught an after-school STEM class, spearheaded our high school foreign exchange program, and led an anti-racist educator group to fight for equity in education. Language Arts and Social Studies are my two favorite subject areas, so much of what I teach falls under the umbrella of those two subjects.
