US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Each week we will engage in direct instruction, interactive activities, hands-on projects, and group discussions. Students will have a supply list (as well as alternatives that can be substituted) that they will need to have available for each class. Students will create a final project during week 11 that will be presented in our final class. Not only will this project demonstrate their understanding of the concepts they learned in class but they will also practice public speaking and communication skills. While exploring various continents and oceans, we will embark on virtual field trips, create our own maps, and become familiar with the weather, animals, location, and many other elements of geography. Week 1 What is geography? Map of the world. Label the continents, equator, prime meridian and draw a compass. Week 2 Africa Week 3 Antarctica Week 4 Australia Week 5 Europe Week 6 North America Week 7 South America Week 8 Asia Week 9 -5 oceans Week 10 Political, Physical, Topographical, Climatic, Economic/ Resource, Road maps and symbols Week 11 Creating our own map discussion, project discussion, review Week 12 Students will present their projects, review Class structure: Introductions, rules, schedule Introduction to new vocabulary Group interaction Direct instruction Question and Answer Summaries can be done verbally or written via the chatbox Visuals, audio, and videos My teaching style is fun, engaging, and student-centered. I enjoy adding animations, pictures, audio, videos and tangible examples for students to remain engaged. I encourage and promote class discussion (both verbally and in the chat box features) No former knowledge is needed for this class, however, but geography enthusiasts are absolutely welcomed and encouraged to join our discussion and share what they know with our class.

Supply List
A supply list will be sent to all learners two weeks before class. Most materials will be materials that students will have around the home. I will also include a list of possible alternatives/substitutes.
