Welcome to Drone School! This class will get you off the ground safely with drone technologies! You will examine the types of commercial drones available to you and how to best choose the one for your current skill level. You will learn where and when you can fly, the apps needed to determine safe locations, and the skills and knowledge needed for your initial and future flights! The skills you will gain include pre flight planning and basic flight maneuvers. The content in the class will be provided through live instruction supplemented with video and web based resources that will be shared with students. No drone necessary to participate. Who is this class for? - Anyone who owns a drone or is looking to purchase one in the near future. - Anyone who wants to build confidence to fly both legally and safely with their specific model drone. - New and Novice pilots interested in taking their skills and knowledge to a new level. Class format: This class is designed to be engaging to all age level students. Group breakout sessions will be conducted to meet each pilot where they are at in each class topic. This is a very upbeat class with a variety of instruction modes including live instruction, video based supplemental materials and age appropriate learning resources. Class topics: - Introduction: Instructor Introduction, Course topics overview. - Drone overview - Basic Drone Rules and Regulations - Your First Flight - Basic Flight Maneuvers to Improve Flying Skills - Introduction to Drone Photography - Introduction to Drone Videography - Intro to Post Processing Applications and Processes

Parental Guidance
We will not be flying drones in this one hour session. But please be advised that students under the age of 16 should be accompanied by an adult when flying commercial drones.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I teach a variety of technology and media related classes where hands on learning experiences are the key to my students' growth. I am a certified educator with a masters degree in education. I have 25 years of teaching experience in public school systems. My teaching certifications include Math, Technology Education, Business, Computer and IT, and Special Education.
I'm a certified remote drone pilot and the owner operator of a drone based business. I use drone technologies to add value to my clients operations in a variety of industries including real estate, education, public safety, and video production.
When I am not teaching I am flying drones and enjoying my hobbies of bass fishing and mountain biking.
