Introduction to D&D: Making a Character

Class

In this short class, students will cover the basics of creating a character in D&D 5th Edition.

Class experience

I'm offering this class because I love the game of D&D and the effect it's had on my life. I'm an avid player and DM of the game (I play in three games and run four regular campaigns), and I continue to be delighted by what happens once the character sheets and dice come out. My friendships have gotten deeper, I've become a more confident and creative person, and I get to be awesome at least once a week (which is great for self-image).

I've introduced dozens of people to the game through regular beginner one-shots I run bi-weekly at a local game bar, so I am daunted neither by the complexity of the game nor by off-the-wall questions. I've probably heard it all before.

Access to a D&D 5th Edition Player's Handbook is certainly a plus, though not required. Students will need a pencil and paper for note-taking, and if they intend to create a character on paper, they will need the Character Sheet printed off before.

I teach D&D classes that showcase imagination, problem-solving, and teamwork.

I started playing D&D about five years ago, and at this point I've played hundreds of games and ran hundreds more.
