In this course, students will use computer science and math skills to create 3D objects using BlocksCAD. We will cover basic coding topics like loops and variables and 3D geometry vocabulary such as sphere, cube, and cylinder. The class structure has the students hands-on creating their own objects as our instructor is teaching. Students will be interacting with the instructor and classmates. After learning the basics, students are able to expand and use their own creativity for projects (we find most students like to spend time outside of class on their projects. There is no prior experience necessary. Students will be using BlocksCAD and will receive usernames and passwords prior to the start of the class.
Lesson 1: Introduction to BlocksCAD - 3D shapes, translation, rotation, organize program blocks.
Lesson 2: Introduction to 3D Printing - operating 3D printers, making printable models, 3D Text, difference
Lesson 3: Other transform skills - scale, sides, taper.
Lesson 4: Hull and Intersection - hull, intersection, creative time.
Learning Goals
Students will learn:
1. Geometry skills
2. Computer science skills

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
BlocksCAD is a fun, engaging, kid-friendly CAD software. This means that students use math skills (like geometry), coding, and 3D design to create and build their own 3D objects. All projects are able to be downloaded into a .stl file so it can be 3D printed or used in AR/VR space. BlocksCAD is so much fun that most students spend extra time outside of class using it!
