Introduction to Clay
In this one-time class, students will learn the basics of clay by using air dry clay. Together we will make a clay creation using the techniques taught in class. Students will be able to ask me questions throughout the clay making portion.

Beginner Level
The basics of hand building with clay will be taught in this class. Students will learn best practices for keeping clay together using two main techniques (on pinch pots and coils). I will demonstrate these skills and go over how to keep clay together by scoring and joining. After I demonstrate, students will brainstorm and share ideas for their creation giving them lots of choice while using techniques we have learned. Then they will start creating and share ideas. I am an elementary school teacher and teach clay to all of my students from Kindergarten to Fifth grade. Clay can be a fun medium to work with once you know the basics! I am here to teach the basics and give students a strong foundation to build upon.

Clay is a medium that appeals to many types of learners. If students need assistance or extra explanation, they can ask during the working portion of the class.
