In this interactive course, students will come to understand the cyclic process of star formation. Students will be introduced to the characteristics of stars, the life cycle of a star, different types of stars, main sequence stars, red giants, white dwarfs, massive stars, supernovas, neutron stars, and black holes. Students will further explore the variations in star color and temperature, what is a lightyear, the distance of stars, size, brightness, and magnitude. Students will understand how stars fuse new elements and return the enriched gas to space allowing new stars eventually form from this enriched gas and repeat the process. They will follow the process of a star from Nebula to protostar to red giants or super red giants to either a supernova or white dwarf.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome! I love to help students learn new skills and explore topics of interest! I have been teaching for over 24 years and can’t wait to share my love of learning with you and your family. I am a Nationally Board-Certified Teacher and have my Ph.D. in Education.
I offer a wide variety of classes to meet a wide range of students' interests, needs, and ages. Check out my course options and choose one today. I promise you will have fun learning!
My teaching philosophy is to do whatever it takes to help your child learn. I like to build on your child’s background knowledge and interests to get them excited about topics. When children are excited about a topic, they learn without even realizing it! Engaging learners make the process fun and exciting and create a foundation for a love of learning.
I look forward to meeting you in one of my courses. See you soon!
Happy Learning,
Dr. Amy R.
