This class is designed to help students establish and build initial skills in using ASL--and to have a ton of fun doing it! In this one-time class, we'll: - learn to sign family members in ASL - learn to fingerspell your name and greet each other in ASL - learn commonly used words in ASL My classes use lots of different media to keep learning fun, engaging, and effective, including breakout groups, cards, pictures, videos, song, and more. ASL is a language, and language is best learned not by memorization, but by experience, so in my class we'll try to create as many fun experiences with the language as we can so that you learn the language naturally! My teaching style is laid back and informal - I love to interact with students, and I've designed the class to provide you with interactive experiences both with me and with your fellow learners in the class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I'm a mom of 3 children, and I love ASL! I first saw ASL in high school, and I fell in love with it. I hold a degree in Communication Science and Disorders, during which I took ASL and was involved in the deaf community.
I believe that the best way to learn ASL is through experiencing the language, so my classes are full of videos, props, songs, and signing from Day 1! The goal of my classes is that you'll learn vocabulary and conversation skills naturally, not just by memory, but through interactive engagement with the language in a way you can understand from the beginning.
I live in the Atlanta, GA, area with my husband and 3 children, and I enjoy music, reading, and being outdoors!
