What's included

5 live meetings

Mastery Evaluation
1 hour per week. Each class will be filled with information! I will ask each learner will benefit from watching the recording to practice, completing the simple tasks asked of them, and simply having fun with their tap skills!
Grading
Each learner will accomplish putting together sounds at their own tempo and be asked to showcase that skill. There is no right or wrong way to do this. Building self-confidence is our number one goal!

Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
Beginner Level
During our 5 weeks together, learners will be exposed to all that there is to love about tap dance!

We will begin the session by getting familiar with rhythm, the parts of our foot (& shoe, if available!) that we use in tap, and also what kinds of sounds are made with different movements of our feet and bodies.

Each class will begin with a warm up including ankle circles, toe taps, heel drops, digs of the toe & heel, and progress from there! Dancers will focus on one step each class and all the ways we can use that particular step. eg. We can take a heel dig and add a drop of the toe to make 2 sounds as opposed to just one.

We will also play some tap games like nursery rhymes, fruit salad, copy cat, and more!

Although shoes are NOT required for this class, they are definitely helpful for the success of the student. I am available to send recommendations for inexpensive shoes on different online resources. If the student cannot purchase tap shoes, a hard sole shoe can be worn and will work best on a hard floor or desk chair mat. A desk chair mat can also work to protect any floors that you don't want damaged.

Learning Goals

Learners will gain the ability to have rhythm, keep a beat, and knowledge of common tap steps.

Regarding shoes/dance attire: Although shoes are NOT required for this class, they are definitely helpful for the success of the student. I am available to send recommendations for inexpensive shoes on different online resources. If the student cannot purchase tap shoes, a hard sole shoe can be worn and will work best on a hard floor or desk chair mat. Regarding space necessary & floor protection: An intro to tap class does not require much space at all. What is helpful is something to hold onto for balance and a desk chair mat can also help to protect any floors that you don't want damaged.

I teach Movement classes in studio and online as well! I have been teaching dance for 15+ years to all ages (18months - adult) as well as Fitness classes to kids and adults. Dance has been a major part of my life for 32 years and I love bringing that passion to others. I've worked with young and old, special needs, low-impact or injured, wheel-chair bound, and all others!

I believe that Dance/Movement is a rare "sport" that is all-inclusive; gross and fine motor skills, spatial awareness, emotionally stimulating, builds self-confidence, improves discipline & listening skills, and much more.

My family consists of my super supportive husband, my oldest daughter (8) youngest daughter (6), and then the littlest one is 3years old, but he was born 3-1/2 months early. We spent a significant amount of time in the NICU in the city we live in and are forever grateful for modern medicine! Our life has been a rollercoaster and, as crazy as this sounds, I wouldn't have it any other way... mostly. haha!

Being a mama myself, I try to be flexible with my schedule and appreciate the understanding from parents as I navigate our medically complex son's needs as well as two active girls!

I offer discounts to siblings, love to work with groups that want to dance together online, and I am always willing to work with you on group discounts, multi-class discounts, and one-on-one private lessons!

Please message me for more info on classes or to ask any questions!
