Cross-Curricular Learning opportunity: Social Studies and English This 4 unit course will look at the basics of research papers. Students will learn about research, how to search topics, how to write notes, convert those notes into a paper and how to edit and revise the paper. Students will also learn how to create a presentation and poster for their topic.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the basics of how to research and be introduced to finding sources, taking notes, writing a paper and how to create a works cited.

Parental Guidance
Students will be required to get on the internet and search for information regarding their topic. SMART internet guidelines will be talked about in the video.
Supply List
Students will be required to get on the internet to research their state. They can also use books if wanted. Students will need to be able to print a worksheet and take notes on their research. They will also need to be able to type up a paper to submit to the teacher.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

History was my minor in college. Writing research papers was a big part of the course load. My focus in school was Social Studies which incorporates not only history but geography as well. I also was required to take several advanced writing classes where I learned the skills of writing research papers on a variety of topics.
