US Grade 3 - 6
In this class, we will look at various microscopes including a light microscope and a digital microscope. Students will be shown several items under the microscope. I will also teach them to look at plant cells and then animal cells using the cells in their cheeks. As an 8th grade Science teacher, this has been one of my favorite lessons in Biology. I will also explain the difference between plant and animal cells. I will encourage students to explore the different organisms around them and to explore them using a microscope.

Teacher expertise and credentials
North Carolina Teaching Certificate in Secondary Education
Hi, My name is Emily Ludlam and I teach 8th grade Science currently. I am a certified teacher with my K-6 degree in elementary education. I also have my certification to teach middle school Science and Gifted students. I am currently working as a classroom teacher. 5 years ago I work at a local Science Center and managed a STEM grant through that school system and NC State University for 3 years. We also went around to the local elementary schools and put on Science shows! I truly believe that if students are not having fun they will not be engaged and they will in turn not learn. I am also the mother of two beautiful children and 3 fur babies. Oh and a frog plus a husband.
