US Grade 6 - 7
In this 4 week flex class (no live meetings), students will be introduced to journal writing prompts. The students will be given 3-6 prompt questions a week (examples- What are 3 things you wish for?, What is your ideal day?, etc) and they will share their answers in the discussion on the platform. Week 1: I will have an introduction video in the classroom which will explain what the class will be about. I will also introduce the first set of 3 prompt questions in the video. The prompt questions will be in the discussion as well. Students will put their answers in the discussion and they will need respond to at least 1 of their classmate's responses for interaction. I will participate and answer the prompt questions as well in the discussion for support! Week 2: I will have another video introducing the next set of 3 prompt questions and will also review the previous week's work. Again students will need to put their answers in the discussion and need to respond to at least 1 classmate. I will reveal my answers in the discussion. Week 3-4: I will have my final videos introducing the last set of 6 prompt questions and will also review the previous week's work. Again students will need to put their answers in the discussion and respond to at least 1 classmate. We will also discuss what they liked and learned about the class in the discussion! I will reveal my answers in the discussion. If anyone has anyone questions, they are more than welcomed to contact me! I want to make sure that the students are supported and feel comfortable sharing their answers. I have had journals since I was 12 and having done writing prompts for a few years. It's important to do in depth thinking about certain topics. I call it good exercise for the brain. I hope your student will enjoy this class and continue to do journaling and prompts in the future. No background knowledge is needed. This is an intro class!
Learning Goals
I want the students to practice their writing skills as well as learning about journaling and in depth thinking.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Tanisha and I'm from Southern California. I've been working in the schools on/off since 2006. Three years as an instructional assistant for middle school students, one year as an aide for kindergarten, four years as a substitute teacher for middle school students and brief experience in after school programs. I have also been an ESL teacher for children in China since December of 2017. I also, since 2006, have done massage therapy.
I have an Associate’s and Bachelor’s Degree in General Education and I’m working on my Master’s Degree in Teaching and Learning. I will be teaching classes about Kindergarten (counting, colors and shapes), journal prompts for middle school kids (I've had a journal since I was 12!) and a nouns, verbs and adjectives class.
I want children to have fun and learn in a creative way! Hope to see you soon!
