Fashion Design is more than sketching on paper. Creativity and Technique go hand in hand! 🔸This course can be auto-scheduled by choosing my available time slots. 🔸This course meets 4 times. This is a multi day live online class, which will cover the areas necessary to begin your fashion journey. We will cover all of the following, and more, within the 4 days: Choosing Seasonally appropriate styles, fabrics and colors. How our designs will lay on the fashion figure, causing folds and gathering. Coordinating pieces to become a collection. Differentiating fabric weights, and how they are illustrated. Where to add seams and details. Students will be following along the lessons, but are also encouraged to find their own style. Questions are encouraged as well! Assessments are on a per student basis, and optional assigned practice may be requested between classes. Students may work traditionally or digitally. Supplies requested for this course: Traditional: A printed Fashion Form (known as a Croquis) Plain white paper (8.5" x 11") Marker paper Fine tip black felt tip marker (non bleeding, like Copic or Micron), it's good to have a .5 and 1.0 if possible Ruler (with inches) Pencil and eraser Colored pencils and alcohol based markers -OR- Digital Art Medium: Tablet with art program of choice (I use Procreate) My favorite coloring tool is a free Watercolor brush, that I downloaded for free! Hi There!
I'm Lori...a graduate of F.I.T in NYC. I've worked in different areas of the design industry since 1991, from illustration, pattern making, garment construction to designing full story boards for buyers. I tutored Fashion Illustration for a few years to help other students complete their professional portfolios before their interviews. Besides getting creative, I LOVE animals! I have quite a few furry little beasts. Right now, my profession is Graphic Design, but fashion illustration and design is still what I do when I need to unwind from technology. I believe that once you learn the basics of how to get that creativity out of your mind and onto paper, you open up a whole new world, being able to share and build on your talents.
*Teacher Rori
They/Them
As an alumni of Cleveland Institute of Art with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Game Design they have a passion for interactive art and how they can push the boundaries of what interactive art means. Having been a visual arts assistant at their old high school Interlochen Arts Academy during the summers, teaching others and seeing the joy in what people create has motivated Rori to pursue teaching. In their free time Rori likes to aquascape. Creating aquariums of any variety of sizes and making little beautiful habitats for their favorite type of fish a Betta fish, they currently have 2 bettas and 4 tanks.

She/Her
Throughout my career in education, I have developed a strong foundation for fostering creativity and critical thinking among students. I have had the privilege of designing and implementing art programs that engage learners and inspire them to explore their unique artistic voices in many afterschool programs since 2019. My extensive experience across various mediums—such as painting, yarn and needlework, jewelry making, and digital arts—has equipped me with the versatility to adapt my teaching methods and cater to diverse learning styles.
*Teacher Jonathan
I have been working in the design/visual arts world for the last 6 years. From designing websites, to doing personal commissions, art is something I’m very passionate about. I had the chance to live in New York for the last 3 years, and had the opportunity to visit world-renowned museums and galleries such as The Met, MoMA, Guggenheim etc. I also curated an Art Gallery with over 200 artworks from local artists in upstate NY. I’m thrilled to bring my experience to these lessons and share that enthusiasm with my students.
