This one-time course introduces students to the music production software Ableton Live and the basic functions of digital audio workstations. Students will become familiarized with concepts such as BPM, audio & midi, audio effects, and arrangement. I've been producing electronic music for 10+ years and am a multi-instrumentalist and professional DJ. I've released music professionally and perform regularly.
We will be using the software Ableton Live (versions 9-11). Ableton Intro, Standard, or Suite are acceptable. If students do not own any of these versions of Ableton, there is a 90 day free trial for Live 11 available on Ableton's website. Ableton Intro, the cheapest option, is available on their website for $99: https://www.ableton.com/en/

For this course, we will be using the music production software Ableton Live (versions 9-11). Students will need to own or have access to this software prior to the start of the course. If they do not currently have access to Ableton, it is suggested you purchase the software for them or assist them in creating an account, obtaining a license, and downloading & installing the software.
