What's included

1 live meeting
50 mins in-class hours
Homework
If students want to send me their work after class for edits I am happy to oblige!
Assessment
I will ask students if they want any edits or suggestions for change. It's their choice to share, but not showing me their work can result in disappointment since verbal directions can only do so much. ex: not placing a circle on the page exactly where i say so, may result in not being able to draw the legs, or making it too small could cause stress in designing the character.

Class Experience

Feedback on student art is given if needed. This will be a mix of shape art and line art.

1-1 upon request tutoring price is 20$ for an hr. Hand drawing or digital drawing is provided as an option in tutoring.

Anime discussion in the first 10 mins. Cardcaptors and Fruits Basket summary with age appropriate clips. We will be drawing the body (NOT from the discussed animes) added different facial features, extra hairstyles.

If this class is too simple...please try the intermediate or advanced course.

If too hard, please try the other, much slower beginner's course.

*****If work is not shared, there may be a disappointment in the final product since I was unable to help. Students should unmute and talk me through what they are concerned about. Nine, is the bare minimum, though younger may join, success varies on the student.

If a student does not share their work AND speak up for extra help, I cannot guarantee their drawing will be a success.

Please, note the artist will use photoshop for ease of repetition. Students do NOT need photoshop or any other drawing app. Pencil and paperwork. if a student is using an app and is new to it, the student may fall behind. Please, don't use a phone.

The instructor may take a screenshot of the child's art to make edits. NO private info is revealed. If there is a high number of requests with excessive edits needed that may take up too much of the time. Students may receive the edits after the class time has ended.

The class votes when it is time to move on. I can only give students a few minutes to catch up if they need extra time. I will ask students if I need to go slower. If your child turns off their camera they need to communicate in some way they are ready to move on via chat or reaction. No response is confusing.

IMPORTANT:

PLEASE have a working camera. This is OS policy.

The instructor is in the EASTERN time zone. PLEASE double-check what the time is and if it fits your schedule. Make sure you check your spam as many messages end up in the spam folder.

Class time MAY be extended for those who have not finished depending on the instructor's schedule. Or given the recording. If the lesson is too slow that means your child is Intermediate/advanced and may want to join the longer course to this one.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their design skills, creative independent thinking through experimenting with design.

Students are welcome to ask questions and learn about being a cartoonist, anime history, going to art school (school of visual arts), and information about tablets and digital design.

Parental Guidance
ESL: Non-english speakers can watch and follow along, however, it would help to send a message in advance that you will be joining, so i know to talk slower and use simpler speech since there are a lot of verbal directions. Native speech can go only go so slow and still sound natural. Ages: The ages that join vary as shown in the description, I think it's important to give as many children a chance to learn the basics as long as it is developmentally appropriate. This applies to this class only. Nine is the bare minimum, success varies on the student. Sharing and Communication: If your child is not sharing their work and not asking for help I can't give them the drawing they are looking for, as I don't know if they are following instructions. Please, find out if they did or did not share with me, and spoke up while doing so. Transfer requests need to be made 24 hours or more in advance. I cannot transfer to an empty slot. If session is missed you may only transfer to a class with another student registered.
Supply List
#2 Pencils, Ruler (or a straight edge like a book), 4 pages of paper, erasers the smaller the better, coloring materials (colored pencils, crayons, markers etc)

Optional: Drawing app like Ibis paint PLEASE have experience with the app. The pace is easier for pencil drawing, not as much for beginners to digital drawing. To clarify, this lesson can be done using either an app or pencils.

Hi, my name is Lori Esposito, I graduated from the School of Visual Arts and earned my BA in Cartooning. Additionally, I am a M.A. certified school counselor and ready to adapt to all learning needs! I teach art and socio-emotional development with children of all ages. I have tutored and taught groups of children ages Pk-8 for six years. I have 30 graduate art education credits at Brooklyn College and open to giving critique to students who need it, as well as portfolio help.

It is important to me to get feedback from children and parents because there is always room for improvement. I value the ideas children have and I always seek to give them the comfort and confidence they need to be independent.

I love painting, drawing, comics, clay art, visiting museums, gardening, cooking, and reading. I thank all the parents who take my classes for trusting me with your children!
