Intro to Chalk Pastels MS Level(Flex Class) by the Painting Panda

Welcome to The Painting Panda Classroom: Intro to Chalk Pastels Flex Class

This is a Flex class, meaning NO LIVE CLASSES, you sign up and then watch the videos as your schedule allows, participate in the classroom discussion, ask any question you want, and share your work as you complete each project. 

We'll focus on line techniques: silhouettes, side lines, top lines, and more.  We'll learn blending techniques: with brushes, fingers, paper towels, and sponges.  I'll share my chalk protection technique: learning how to keep our chalk pastels from rubbing off the paper when we're done with our projects.  Chalk pastels are very similar to side walk chalk, but easier to use when the weather is yucky out!  There are so many ways we can show how beautiful the chalks can be on black paper, colored paper, newsprint paper, white paper and much more.

In this class we'll learn all about chalk pastels with 4 amazing projects over the 4 weeks of class:
Week 1: Hair: blending, line work, technique guide and a final project
Week 2: Face Skin: colors, lighting, lines, blending and a final project
Week 3: Faces (eyes, noses, mouths, ears): blending, colors, brush work and mixed techniques and a final project
Week 4: Final project: Andy Warhol genre facial collage: taking everything we've learned and putting to all together 4 final project examples in the instruction video

Each Thursday no later than 5pm EST, I'll post the videos for the art projects, instructions, and techniques.  On Saturday I'll check back into class to see how things are going, do a Q&A session and get updated on the art projects.  On Saturdays I will also post either an interactive video, or a tip video customized to each class.  On Mondays I'll check back into the classroom to see what images have been posted from students regarding their art projects and share my tip for protecting the chalk.  Mondays are art submission days.  On the first week, I will post a power point file that gives details about Andy Warhol, who has given me the inspiration to create this type of class.  It gives a few details so each learner can learn a bit about a prominent Pop Art artist. 

Also, students will be able to communicate with each other in the classroom.   However, flex classes are more fun when students are willing to interact with each other and the teacher as often as possible.
