Class Experience

Blender is a fantastic tool that is slowly becoming the leading 3d software. Blender used in Unity, 3d modeling, and animation. Many professional studios are now making the switch into Blender. A great example of this is Pixar used Blender to model Mr. Incredible!  This class is for the complete beginner, where each session students create something in Blender that they can share! The end goal of this class is for each student to have a 3d showreel. By creating a showreel now, it will help them grow their careers in the 3d graphics space!

Blender is free to download at https://www.blender.org 

This is a multi-day class where each class is working on a new animation to put in their animation showreel at the end of class. If project not completed that day, then it will be assigned as homework. 

Class 1: 2D basics into, squash and stretch: This is basic introduction into Blender, starting with classic ball jumping 
Class 2: 2D lighting using grease pencil: Introduce to animating in grease pencil  
Class 3: 2D fire animation using grease pencil: Using 2d to introduce into 3d
Class 4: 2D Stick figure animation using grease pencil: Learning how to create an armature 
Class 5: 3D Making buildings in 3d and basic lighting: Basic introduction to modeling
Class 6: 3D Making a Star Wars text into: Basic intro to materials 
Class 7: 3D Making a Neon sign: Eevee glow
Class 8: 3D Simulating clouds: advanced materials. 
Class 9: 3D Simulating smoke: Intro to physically based simulations 
Class 10: 3D Making a showreel to show off what you made

Learning Goals

The end goal is for students to obtain a strong grasp of Blender and able to create their own animations.

Parental Guidance
Students need to be comfortable with creating accounts to freesound.org and blendswap to get free resources.
Supply List
Learners must have a https://freesound.org, and https://www.blendswap.com account. 

A computer that is powerful enough to support Blender, download Blender and see if you computer can support it: https://www.blender.org

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
