Same class just in a four-week increment to accommodate summer schedules.

Let's have fun exploring the wonderful world of art together! In this eight-week course, taught by experienced and certified educator and artist- Amy Pollman, learners will have the opportunity to be introduced to art making and art making processes. Learners will create beautiful artworks using basic techniques of drawing, cutting, gluing, pasting, painting, sculpting, and color concepts. In addition, we will briefly discuss art history and culture from around the world as it pertains to our projects.

Learners will learn a new weekly concept taught by Ms. Amy in demonstration and also referenced in context through a brief PowerPoint which will illustrate our technique. My teaching style playful yet informed. I keep the students motivated and inspired in a collaborative, interpretive friendly, inclusive and culture conscience classroom. Classes will always have the theme introduced in the beginning, learners will participate in a short demo and then they will have a good portion of the class to create.

Each week the students will get a supply list that they will need to bring to class. It is important that the students come with the supplies they need for each project so class may operate in a timely manner. Course supplies are listed in the supply list below.

This class is age appropriate for kindergartners, but it would be helpful to have holding a drawing utensil, cutting and gluing experience prior to class.
Learning Goals
- cutting safely with scissors
- how to glue carefully
- how to follow instructions
- how to problem solve
- how to blend colors
- how to paint with watercolor
- how to draw lines
- how to create original artworks
- to learn about history, artist, and culture

Parental Guidance
This class can be messy. Please be advised that your learner needs a studio friendly space to work in studio friendly clothing. We will use glue sticks and scissors. Please be sure you are giving your child children's scissors to work with so they do not harm themselves accidentally. Safety first in the classroom : ) it is helpful to place the learner close to the camera so they may hold their work up to the camera when they want to share. If at all possible, please avoid placing your learner in front of a window or light source. This will make it difficult to see them and their artwork which is so important for feedback. My classroom is inclusive and diversity supported and we touch on all culture and holidays from a secular point of view. Occasionally and briefly the human body (as bodies are beautiful and everyone has one) will be shown as an example of artist work. Let me know if you have any questions about these elements of the class.
