Class Experience

Would you rather take a virtual trip, or learn about different places? In this class, you can do both. In this 8-week flexible schedule class, the students will have the opportunity to learn interesting facts about different geographical locations worldwide.
Here's how it works:
Each week, I will give new clues about the mystery location of the week. You'll have the flexibility to work on the clues at any time that works for you, and you can collaborate with your classmates or work on your own. Challenges will also be given weekly.
The clues will be varied and will require you to use your knowledge of geography, culture, and other related subjects to solve them. You might need to use online resources to help you with your investigation.
For example, one clue might be a picture of a landmark or natural feature that is unique to the mystery location. You'll need to use your geography skills to identify where in the world this feature might be found.
Another clue might be a cultural tradition or custom that is unique to the mystery location. You'll need to use your cultural knowledge to identify which parts of the world might have these traditions.
As you collect more clues, you'll be able to narrow down the location until you finally identify the mystery location. You’ll need to share your guesses by sending a message to the teacher.
This virtual flexible schedule geography class is a fun and interactive way to learn about different parts of the world while honing your critical thinking and problem-solving skills. So get ready to put your detective hat on and start solving the mystery!
Some of the locations will be determined by the students as they will be encouraged to give clues to other locations. *Students should follow all internet safety rules by not identifying the place where they live. They can use their location for clues, but they can not identify these locations as being where they live.
Challenges will be posted weekly.
Each week, the students will be required to identify the place as well as add some facts that they have found interesting about the location given in the clues. They will be expected to respond to the clues given and encouraged to offer their own challenges to the class as well. I will upload the challenges each Sunday. Students should respond to the clues no later than the following Saturday.
I will teach using a discovery-based approach in which students are given clues via a video that I will create and post, and they will need to identify the location and add more information about the location to the class page. Their guesses regarding the mystery location should be sent as a message to me.
My teaching style is very relaxed.
