45 mins in-class hours per weekHomework
2-4 hours per week. Students are expected to practice ~30 minutes each day on their own to develop the skills we learn in class. I will give instructions on how and what to practice in each class.Class Experience
In this class, we will build on the skills you already have on the violin. Week of July 10: Focus on Scales Week of July 17: Exercises and Études Week of July 24: Suzuki Method pieces Week of July 31: Fiddle Tunes I tailor my classes to each student's individual needs and repertoire goals - the violin is a challenging instrument, and it is natural for each student to go at their own pace. I also like to include music theory as part of the lessons as it pertains to the repertoire. While I am a classical teacher, I also like to make my own arrangements of pieces that you may be more familiar with to promote a fun and relevant learning experience.

Hello! I'm a violin teacher on Outschool, and am looking forward to offering classes here! I am a violinist and educator in BC's Okanagan region, playing regularly with the Okanagan and Kamloops Symphonies. Prior to that, I was Principal 2nd Violinist in the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra.
I have over 8 years of classroom teaching experience, as well as over 14 years of experience teaching private lessons for students ages 4-50! Since April 2020, I have been teaching private lessons online through Zoom as well. I believe that learning music should be fun, and have developed my own methods tailored to students' needs. I teach mostly classical music, but like to incorporate some popular tunes based on students' interests.
I hold a Master of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance/Music Ed from McGill University. I am a licensed ECE, with a Diploma in Early Years Education from the University of British Columbia.
