This class is taught in English.
Students will be able to: -count and sing complicated rhythms -master beginner-intermediate level tap skills -improve their improvisation skills -gain confidence in, appreciation for, and love of the art of tap dancing
I have over 36 years dance experience and over 23 years teaching experience. Great care and attention are taken to teach appropriately and safely to each group of students, but accidentally falls and injuries can still happen. Instructor is not responsible for injuries that occur during the course of the classes.
Assessments OfferedDancers will receive general constant feedback, tips, and corrections during all classes. Dancers will have the opportunity to volunteer to demonstrate skills mastered or skills that are works in progress for individual feedback from which the entire class can learn. Informal assessment is given and placement recommendations will be made at the end of the semester if the student wishes to continue for the Spring semester.
Materials needed for class -Appropriately fitting tap shoes and a place to tap. -A chair, barre, or something stable that can be used as a barre. -A tap board (1/4 inch plywood of 2 ft x 3 ft) is recommended to prevent damaging regular flooring. If you already have a dedicated dance space with dance floors, a tap board is not needed. Recommended Attire: -Leotard, dance top, or shirt with leggings, sweat pants, or dance shorts. Jeans are not recommended, but are acceptable.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
YouTube videos of famous tappers will sometimes be recommended to watch outside of class. This is optional for all learners.
