Assessment
Dancers will receive general constant feedback, tips, and corrections during all classes. Dancers will have the opportunity to volunteer to demonstrate skills mastered or skills that are works in progress for individual feedback from which the entire class can learn. Informal assessment is given and placement recommendations will be made at the end of the semester if the student wishes to continue for the Spring semester.

Class Experience

Join us for a fun and energetic Intermediate Level Tap class where we will build upon previously mastered skills in a faster paced learning environment than basic beginner levels.  Teacher will begin each class with warm ups and a discussion of proper warm up technique for at home practice.  Class will then proceed with center technique and technique that is meant for travel.  Center technique may include fun technique combinations, practice of skills already learned for mastery, or introduction of new skills.  Classes may also include a mixture short dance combinations and tap games to help practice technique, tap vocabulary, and rhythm.  Each class will be different and dynamic based on student needs and ability.

Students must have already had at least 2 years of tap OR have been placed by Miss Brandi.

Students should have already mastered:
*Shuffles, shuffle ballchanges, shuffle hop steps
*Flaps on the run and flap ballchanges
*Paradiddles (also called Paddle and Rolls)- dig spank step heel
*Maxi-fords (stamp shuffle leap toes)- stamp shuffle leap toe
*Cramprolls 
*Continentals (also called Shirley Temples)- flap heel heel spank heel toe heel
*Buffalos 

Curriculum will include (but is not limited to):
-Various time steps and time step combinations
-Practicing skills like separated pullbacks and time steps for mastery 
-Longer and more intricate technique combinations than beginner level
-More complicated rhythm and counting than beginner level
-Practicing the art of learning choreography and the art of improvisation
Learning Goals
Students will be able to:
-count and sing complicated rhythms
-master beginner-intermediate level tap skills
-improve their improvisation skills
-gain confidence in, appreciation for, and love of the art of tap dancing

Other Details

Supply List
Materials needed for class
-Appropriately fitting tap shoes and a place to tap.  
-A chair, barre, or something stable that can be used as a barre.
-A tap board (1/4 inch plywood of 2 ft x 3 ft) is recommended to prevent damaging regular flooring.  If you already have a dedicated dance space with dance floors, a tap board is not needed.

Recommended Attire:
-Leotard, dance top, or shirt with leggings, sweat pants, or dance shorts.  Jeans are not recommended, but are acceptable.

I have over 36 years dance experience and over 23 years teaching experience. Great care and attention are taken to teach appropriately and safely to each group of students, but accidentally falls and injuries can still happen.  Instructor is not responsible for injuries that occur during the course of the classes.
