Those who have already learned basics in Spanish challenge themselves by working toward complete sentences and back-and-forth dialogue, while still reviewing or filling in gaps through our weekly topics tackled through games and stories. For this class learners should be at least starting to read in one or both languages (Spanish or English). The lessons do not build on one another, and learners may join in or leave on any week. As the teacher, I work to foster a welcoming environment, encouraging all students to do their personal best and be supportive of others in the process. I largely use Spanish but will provide English explanations where needed or requested and will also encourage learners to use as much Spanish as possible and complete sentences for maximum practice. Our class time will include the following: 1. Small talk time where we will talk weather, seasons, day and time, feelings, etc. (though not everything on every week), 2. Practice the key vocabulary and phrases for the week, adding in extra vocabulary as the learners desire or are ready, 3. Read our book of the week together, taking parts, 4. Play a game to practice our target words and phrases of the week, and 5. Take a low-pressure "quiz" where learners take turns and work together to supply the appropriate phrases if we have time.
