In this class, we will be practicing Spanish conversation by applying real world topics in engaging ways! The class is structured in a way that offers the students ample opportunities to listen and speak Spanish. The following topics will be covered: Week of November 18th : Favorites - favorite foods, games, subjects, hobbies, movies. Students will be asked to explain why they enjoy these things. They will also be prompted to ask their classmates what their favorites are and why. Week of November 25th : Thanksgiving - We will discuss why we celebrate it here in the U.S., whether or not students enjoy this holiday, what their favorite and least favorite part of it is, etc. We will cover food shared, who the holiday is spent with, etc. I will ask students to share their own thoughts regarding the "first thanksgiving," the pilgrims, and those arriving in the "new world." Week of December 2nd: Giving - As we will be in the beginning of the giving season, this week's topic will be based on how we can give some of our time and/or resources to help others. I will ask students to get creative when sharing their thoughts. I will have students discuss with each other their ideas and how they could implement not only their own ideas, but also their classmates' ideas in their own community. Week of December 10th: Christmas - We will discuss favorite traditions, Christmas parties, favorite music during the season, and food/drinks and sweets of the season. I will also have the students answer whether or not they prefer to receive gifts or experiences for Christmas. Students must be able to explain these topics in depth. I, the teacher, will ask engaging questions and encourage each participant to answer. I will also facilitate conversations between peers. This class welcome mistakes as that is how we learn!
