Students should take the post-class quizClass Experience
US Grade 3 - 6
Far too often, students memorize a vocabulary list each week, take the test, but fail to apply or incorporate the words in their speech or writing. My class provides vocabulary instruction in a meaningful format. First, the student will be taught a common root and affix(es) with related words using the word parts and fun visual images. Students are encouraged to think of words that they also already know that uses the roots. For each root, students have the option of making the craft or completing the sketchnotes. Students will need scissors, glue, paper/notebook, and coloring supplies if they wish to complete the craft. For students wishing to complete the craft, students should come to class with the craft ALREADY cut out. Breakdown of Class 1 1. Welcome, Warmup, and Introduce roots 2. Students discuss words connected to the root (10 words) 3. Complete craft/sketchnotes together Class 2 1. Welcome and warmup 2. Review root words (synonyms, antonyms, analogies, sentence writing, words in context) 3. Review Game! Postclass quiz is also posted using google forms. Please let me know if your student has an exceptionality and needs a modified test or learning environment.
