In this 4-week online course, students will read Chinese classic through picture books. They are going to write and discuss the contents of the classic episodes. They can shape and express their own comments after the reading and analyzing.

We will read “Journey to the West” through this classical reading class. “journey to the West” is one of the Four Great Classical Novels in the history of Chinese literature. Almost every person in China starts his classical reading from this book. I chose the picture book to introduce this famous novel to intermediate level students. We will practice students listening, speaking and reading skills during this class. I will also provide quizlet, bingobaker and a lots of interesting activities to help students improve their Chinese language acquisition. We will let our students prepare the reading reflection and presentations after the detailed reading and analysis. Following the famous Broom’s Texonomy, students will find a appropriate question from a special “choice board” to design and organize a wonderful discussion or debate during this classical reading class.

My name is Yuping Zeng. I am Chinese teacher .I live in LA. I am a mother of two boys. I like watching movies, going to the beach, and hiking. In my spare time, I do craft and knitting and listen to music too.
My strengths are language teaching and short story writing. I taught Russian for 17 years. I taught Chinese to foreign students since 2003. I taught both English and Chinese in America. My students are a diverse group of people, with widely varying ages and skill levels. I have attention to detail. I am good at working along with others.
