I am a certified current secondary teacher. I have taken 2 workshops (including the Indiana GEAR Up 2024 Digital SAT professional development workshop) that cover ways to prepare students for the SAT and PSAT. I also tutor students in preparing for the SAT and teach a SAT/ACT course at my brick and mortar high school. Additionally, I am a SAT testing coordinator and administrator at my school. I teach many different types of Test Prep including: ISSE, NWEA, SAT/PSAT, AP, IB, SHSAT, ILEARN, PERT, and ACT.

GOALS
The new SAT format is different from previous versions (as of October 2023), so this course ensures that your students can be a confident test-taker!

Students will learn how to tackle each question type, gain content knowledge, and improve time management/testing strategies and how to maximize their score. Students are given homework/practice after each class. Homework is required and parents are notified if their learner is not regularly completing the practice.

This course uses College Board and Khan Academy materials, as well as teacher-created materials. All texts are guaranteed aligned with College Board tests.

Important: students should be familiar with algebra, geometry, and some basic algebra 2. It is not necessary for students to have a completely solid grasp of all of these topics, as I work through each problem. If students are struggling with a specific topic, I encourage them to reach out to me or find the topic on Khan Academy. Students enrolled in this class are also eligible for 20% off of private tutoring.

Note that students will need a calculator in this class. All portions of the new SAT allow calculator usage. I RECOMMEND students use the Desmos SAT calculator (online link here: https://www.desmos.com/calculator), but any approved College-Board calculator is also fine.

POLICIES
Do note that Outschool's standard refund policy for all classes states: "Refund within 24 hours of payment until your next meeting or lesson access begins."

My PERSONAL semester refund policy for semester classes is a bit more flexible. I will give a full refund 7 days before the start of class. Once class has started, I do not refund.

Please be aware that if there are no students after the first 10 minutes of the live online class, that day's class will be canceled. Our live meetings are scheduled for 60 minutes, but the duration may vary based on the number of students and their participation. Your student's engagement is key!

This class requires a minimum of THREE students to proceed. If you know another student who might be interested, please share this class with them. If we don't have a minimum of three students enrolled 36 hours before the start time, the class will be canceled, and you'll receive a FULL refund. Thank you for your understanding.

PARTICIPATION:
Students may choose to keep cameras on or off as long as they briefly verify themselves with me at the beginning of the class (per Outschool policy). I do expect participation in this class (mostly in the chat, then verbal participation is encouraged). We cover quite a lot of material and it is essential that students are engaged and paying attention. Being active participants helps them do so.

MISSED CLASSES
If your student misses a class, a recording will always be accessible on the classroom page. The Google Slides lesson and homework are always available as well.

Note: if cost is an issue, please contact me. Once class is guaranteed to run, I am available to provide discounts for special circumstances.
