It's easy to feel stuck throughout the writing process, especially when a student is staring at a blank screen, unsure of where to begin. Many times, all that student needs is for someone to ask the right questions that help steer the direction of their work—they need to know the next step! My teaching style is a mix between "facilitator" and "expert." I aim to use questions that prompt critical thinking and analysis in my students; once they're engaged and I can see where they need specific instruction, I provide the information they need to move forward. My education, skills, and experience teaching writing uniquely situate me to assist students in taking that next step. Whether a student needs help getting started with an outline, organizing their thoughts into a draft, or proofreading for grammar mistakes, I can meet them exactly where they are and help them move forward! For example, within the aforementioned themes, students might need help writing a thesis statement, developing paragraph topic sentences, or crafting a conclusion.
