Class Experience

I will be teaching math using state standards in ixl.com and my own math manipulatives, worksheets and activities that will highlight math problems that our difficult to the individual student in a fun and new perspective.  We may have a difficult problem that takes half the class, like a project incorporating engineering or science with math, and we also will work on shorter problems that the student has come across and is causing him or her difficulty. It is my hope that even students with great difficulty in liking math will see how interesting and relevant it is. I really want students to use every side of their brain, and approach problems in the way that is best suited to their style of learning. We will cover 5th to 7th grade math and beyond, trying to solve complex problems and also solving particular difficulties that the student has with their regular studies.

In every class I teach, I ensure that kids will feel empowered to share their stories, that they are genuinely interested in the material because its fun, and that they are learning new facts and sparking their imaginations! My classes often include science, art and imagination and are always inter-disciplinary, which helps every learner benefit no matter what learning style fits them best. I have taught small and large classes (in China I taught over 30 in one class!) for over eleven years, but I definately get the most out of the small, personal classes found in Outschool. Some other things I enjoy are dinosaurs, doodling, music of all types and from all cultures, and some silly dancing as well. Can't wait to meet your kiddos!
