Class Experience
The fashion industry is multi-faceted. There are a variety of career opportunities that can be sought out in advance in this wonderful industry. This individual tutoring session will mainly be learner directed. A one-on-one chance to ask specific questions relating to your concerns and issues about fashion. Some of the usual questions that may arise in fashion business involve the following: What fashion careers are excelling now? What are the marketing tools I can use to promote my business? What are ways I can brand myself to stand out amongst the crowd? What social media tools are instrumental in promoting a fashion industry? Where do I go for additional learning on fashion design and fashion merchandising? And, of course, whatever comes to mind as it pertains to fashion. Each learner will have the opportunity to submit their questions ahead of time and, if necessary, an expert guest speaker may be invited if the question and/or issue that has arisen needs a qualified answer. I may have videos and slides depending on the topic. I have an interactive teaching style where the student can feel free to ask any question they may have on the fashion industry. A student may come back weekly asking and tackling questions that they may have on fashion. Learners can join and leave at any time.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I’d like to say I’ve had a passion for fashion my entire life. I majored in Home Economics at Miami University, in Oxford, Ohio. My Home Ec degree, (now more aptly termed Retailing), provided me with many career choices. I’ve been a buyer for a major department store, a merchandise coordinator, a sales representative for major fashion vendors Levis Strauss & Co., GAP, and Ellen Tracy, an image consultant, personal stylist, fashion blogger, program chair of fashion design at a career academy, entrepreneur, and image management textbook author. Always eager to learn more and meeting new people, I achieved a Masters Degree in Training & Development in 2006 from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. I’ve been able to utilize my graduate degree in my image consulting firm, Fine Threads, established in 1999. I developed courses on appearance, behavior, and communication skills. My first book, Your Personal Style, was released in March 2009, and is available through Fairchild Publications or Amazon.com. Outside of work I enjoy the city of Chicago; the lakefront, unique retail shops, and the diversity of the people. I enjoy a great Sunday afternoon brunch and movie, live music, bike riding, Bikram yoga, reading fashion magazines, and dancing.
