Beginner Level
I will be teaching various art projects that integrate with the Common Core State Standards. Each month I will teach art projects from a single standard. For example one month we will do all literature based art, the next month science based, next month math based, then social studies based, etc. Once in a while we will do holiday or seasonal art projects as well. We will begin each lesson introduction with a book, power point, or video highlighting the subject we are learning about that week. I will show the finished project then teach the students the steps to create the project. I will use my computer camera for beginning the lesson and then switch to an overhead webcam to demonstrate how to make the project. I highly encourage my students to use their imagination and be creative. I do not expect their art to look exactly like mine. The more they can express themselves with their art the better! I am an experienced elementary art teacher and love to teach and work with kids and especially see their creativity blossom! I will have interaction with each child in every class and hope they will be willing to discuss and share their art with the group.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about a specific Common Core subject during each lesson.
Students will make an art project that goes along with the subject they learn about.

Parental Guidance
Many of the art projects we make in this class require the use of scissors. Please try to have child safe scissors with a blunt tip if possible for your child to use. If you don't have child safe scissors please assist your child when cutting or make sure you are ok with them using scissors on their own.
The basic art supply list that we will use all year is on the LEFT column of the supply list.
Additional supplies needed for specific art projects each week will be listed on the RIGHT column of the supply list. Please make sure you have all the items on the right side list before class starts each week.
