In this individualized, ongoing class, your child will receive one on one reading instruction proven to increase reading fluency for all students. I look forward to helping your child grow!
Class experience
US Grade 1 - 6
The first session will focus on identifying your child’s reading level and interests and establishing a parent-teacher-student relationship. During the following sessions, the teacher will use an evidence-based strategy to increase reading fluency for all learners (rate, accuracy, prosody). To ensure effective tutoring, the teacher suggests meeting 4x per week. Book additional recurring meetings after the initial purchase.Students will increase their oral reading fluency.
Certified Teacher with degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education Masters in Literacy Education Taught special education (specifically reading) for 10 years Tutored reading in a one-on-one setting for 7 years Trained in Orton Gillingham (OG)
Homework Offered
Additional homework will not be assigned. Students can read the passage to a family member following the session to show how much they have learned.Assessments Offered
Fluency rates will be tracked during each session.Grades Offered
(1) A regular laptop, Google Chromebook, iPad, or desktop computer is needed. (2) A webcam (internal or external) is essential for this course. (3) A mouse for manipulating onscreen tiles - unless you have an iPad or touch screen computer. (4) A headset with a microphone on the headphones is highly recommended and preferred so that both the student and the teacher can hear the sounds the other makes clearly and precisely.
There will not be upsetting class content. Content is based on student interests. I am a firm believer that parent support helps a student grow with their reading. Therefore, as a parent, you are more than welcome to attend the meetings with your child.
