Beginner Level
Learners will explore root words and selected prefixes and suffixes, enabling them to create new words. The guide for each lesson will be "Word Roots" by The Critical Thinking Co. Each session will follow a structured format, including a brief review, the introduction of new concepts, and practical application. Lessons are thoughtfully crafted using Google Slides and incorporate interactive exercises to deepen understanding and engagement. Students will participate in games, slides, video clips, and discussions to reinforce their learning. Assessments will be conducted at the end of the course, with weekly reviews to ensure thorough preparation.
Learning Goals
Learners will determine or clarify the meaning of unknown and multiple-meaning words and phrases based on grade level reading and content, choosing flexibly from a range of strategies.Learners will use and apply common, grade-appropriate Greek and Latin affixes and roots as clues to the meaning of a word.
